This Privacy Policy explains how Beachwise (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile application on iOS and Android. We built the App to be private by design: it works without an account, and we do not run our own servers that store your personal data.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for the App is:
- Individual Entrepreneur Mariia Krasheninnikova
- Contact: krashmash@gmail.com
If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at the address above.
2. Information we process
a) Approximate / precise location
With your permission, the App reads your device location to show the beaches nearest to you and their weather. Location is used on your device and is sent to our data providers (see Section 3) only as map coordinates, in order to request the forecast and nearby beaches for that area. We do not store your location on any server we control, and we do not use it to identify you or build a profile. You can decline the location permission and search for a place by name instead, or change the permission at any time in your device settings.
b) Information stored only on your device
The following is saved locally on your phone (using the operating system’s standard local storage) and is never transmitted to us:
- Your favorite beaches;
- Your unit preference (°C/°F, m/s, etc.);
- Your purchase status (e.g. whether ads are removed);
- A temporary cache of the last data you viewed, so the App works offline.
Deleting the App removes this information from your device.
c) Requests to third‑party data providers
To show weather, sea conditions and beach locations, the App sends requests to the third‑party services listed in Section 3. Those requests necessarily include the map coordinates you are viewing and, as with any internet request, your device’s IP address and basic technical information. These providers act as independent controllers of the data their services receive; please review their privacy policies.
d) Advertising (free version)
The free version of the App may show ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may process device and advertising identifiers, your IP address, and general information about your device and ad interactions. On iOS, the App will ask for your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any tracking used for personalized advertising; if you decline, you will still see ads, but non‑personalized ones. See Google’s policies linked in Section 3. Removing ads (via the one‑time “Remove ads” purchase) disables these ad requests.
e) Purchases
If you make a purchase (for example, to remove ads), the transaction is handled by Apple App Store or Google Play; we may use RevenueCat to manage what you have unlocked. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Our payment tooling may process a store‑provided, pseudonymous purchase identifier and receipt information to unlock and restore your purchase.
3. Third‑party services and their policies
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |

4. Why we are allowed to process this data (GDPR)
- Consent — for accessing your location and, on iOS, for tracking used in personalized advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.
- Performance of a contract — to deliver purchases you make.
- Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the App, and to show non‑personalized ads that keep the free version free.
5. Data retention
Because we do not run our own user database, we do not retain your personal data on our servers. On‑device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Data processed by the third parties above is retained according to their own policies.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because most data stays on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly:
- Revoke the location permission in your device settings at any time;
- Reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings;
- Delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App;
- For anything involving our ad or payment partners, contact us and we will help route your request.
“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” (California). We do not sell your personal information for money. Personalized advertising may be considered “sharing” under California law; you can opt out by declining the tracking prompt on iOS, resetting/limiting your advertising ID, or contacting us at the email above.
7. Children
Beachwise is a general‑audience weather app and is not directed to children under the age required for consent in their country (for example, under 13 in the U.S. or under 16 in parts of the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will address it.
8. International transfers
The third‑party services we use may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. Where required, those providers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) described in their own policies.
9. Security
Requests to our data providers are made over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we design the App to collect as little data as possible.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may also be noted in the App.
This document is a good‑faith, plain‑language privacy policy for Beachwise. It is not legal advice. If you operate at scale or in a regulated market, consider having a lawyer review it before publishing.
